Acupuncture is a primary health care modality that has flourished in China for over 5,000 years. Because of its proven effectiveness, acupuncture has been embraced throughout the world and has gained popularity in America as an alternative health care option. Far more than a technique of inserting needles in specific points, it is a method of dealing with Qi - the energy of the human body. When energy circulates freely through pathways in the body called meridians, health is maintained. When energy is blocked, the result is pain and illness. By stimulating acupuncture points along the meridians, energy is released and regulated and health is restored. Your first visit for Acupuncture includes a complete health history, TCM diagnosis, a discussion of goals and development of a treatment plan and an acupuncture and/or microlight therapy session. This process requires approximately 2 hours. Thereafter, each acupuncture treatment requires 45 minutes. Your first visit includes: |
TREATMENTYour treatment begins with the insertion of thread-like sterile, disposable steel needles at critical points near major nerve, blood vessel, and lymphatic routes to stimulate the body’s Qi. In most cases, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that needles are hardly felt. Occasionally one may feel a slight initial pricking or tingling followed by a sensation of numbness, distention or warmth. Within 15 minutes, a generalized immunological response takes place. Once in place many people describe a deep feeling of calm, while others experience a rush of physical or emotional sensations. Needles are removed after 15 to 30 minutes. Most people leave an acupuncture treatment with a feeling of relaxation, well-being and alert restfulness. |
