A moderately conditioned person can easily sweat off 500 grams of sweat in a 30-minute session — equivalent to running three to four miles or 475 to 600 calories. Depending upon an individual’s constitution, an infrared sauna can burn up to 900 calories in a 30-minute session. Fluids lost in the sauna can be replenished, but the calories are not. Because fat becomes water soluble at 110 degrees F, subcutaneous fat can be released along with the sweat and toxins. If heavy metals are reduced, this will correct metabolic imbalances that cause poor digestion and weight gain. Also, toxins stored in the fat are decreased making it easier to lose weight. |

A typical sauna session will cause a brief 1 ot 3 degree F increase in body temperature. Fever is the body’s defense against bacteria, microbes and consequent infection. This side effect triggers the production of white blood cells by the bone marrow and killer T cells by the thymus. The overall result is claimed to be immune system enhancement as well as the killing of microorganisms. |

CAN THE FAR INFRARED SAUNA IMPROVE MY SKIN? |

An infrared sauna is excellent for increasing blood circulation to the skin, which is essential for beautiful, youthful, glowing skin. Your skin will have an inner glow as the skin is free of accumulated dirt and dry skin cells, leaving the skin smooth and soft. In addition, there are improvements in skin problems such as acne, rashes, burns, eczema and psoriasis. Scars, even keloids, may be gradually softened. Because we all need far infrared light to be completely tranquil, calm and healthy, the infrared sauna will leave you free of stress and fatigue. Cellulite, a gel-like substance made up of fat, water and wastes, are trapped in pockets below the skin. Profuse sweating is thought to clear this form of unwanted debris.

HOW DOES THE HEAT FROM THE INFRARED SAUNA AFFECT MY BODY? |

Some health conditions may be adversely affected by far infrared sauna therapy. If you have any of the conditions listed below, consult with your physician to obtain approval and/or a prescription prior to using the far infrared sauna.
§ Adrenal suppression (body does not respond to heat) § SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematous) § Multiple Sclerosis § Hyperthyroidism § Hemophilia
Do not use the sauna in these circumstances: § If you are pregnant or are nursing § In children under age 5 § If you have acute joint injuries § If you have enclosed infections (dental, joints, tissue). § If you have artificial joints, metal pins, or any other implants § If you have silicone implants (may melt at higher temperatures) § During menstrual cycle, may increase menstrual flow § If you have a predisposition to bleeding.
If you take a prescription drug, check with your physician or pharmacist for any possible change in the drug’s effect due to any interaction with infrared energy. If you are heat intolerant and do not sweat even with vigorous exercise Do not attempt to self-treat any disease without direct supervision of a certified health care practitioner. If your stop sweating or your skin becomes clammy, you feel weak, tired or nauseous, STOP USE IMMEDIATELY. This could be a sign of heat exhaustion.

ARE ANY CONDITIONS CONTRAINDICATED WITH FAR INFRARED SAUNA? |

In the far infrared sauna, infrared rays are selectively absorbed by tissues needing a boost in their output in a process called “resonant absorption.” Heat, normally at approximately 140 degrees, penetrates deeply into our joints, muscles and tissues, speeding oxygen flow, relieving pain and increasing circulation and peripheral blood flow. |
